Blake Griffin-style slams on show at US dunk contest

The NBA Dunk contest has become a little stale of late - witness the desperate calls for LeBron James to enter each year.

So maybe we should all just watch the Venice Basketball League instead. The competition, held on world famous Venice Beach California, celebrates its seventh year in 2013.

Home to NBA D-Leaguers, potential draft picks and basketball trick artists, it hosts some of the most exciting street basketball in America.

And a fresh video posted by the Grantland Channel brings it to life. The VBL dunk contest boasts a typical array of characters - Sir Isaac, Mike Purdie and Little Worm all live life above the rim.

There's 360s, windmill dunks, car jumping, reverse dunks and a double slam - dunking two balls at the same time.

It's all pretty mind-blowing stuff, and enough to get us out trying to replicate it ourselves. We don't get anywhere near the net though, let alone the rim.

Check it out in the video below...
