Manchester United's Javier Hernandez is being targeted by Valencia as a replacement for Roberto Soldado, reports the Daily Express.

Soldado has been linked with an exit from the Spanish club this summer, with English Premier League rivals Tottenham and Liverpool both showing an interest in the striker.

Both the clubs are apparently willing to meet Valencia's release clause of the Spaniard. Tottenham had recently had their £24 million bid for the Spanish international rejected but are expected return with another bid.

Liverpool are also expected to return with a fresh proposal in the next few days as Brendan Rodgers prepares for life without Luis Suarez at Anfield.

Valencia president Amadio Salvo had recently commented: "Soldado can go if he wants - for €30 million and under our conditions."

However, the club are increasingly less confident of holding on to the player and have started looking for replacements for their star forward.

Spanish newspaper SuperDeporte claims that Los Che has lined up Hernandez as one of the replacements for Soldado.

Valencia had tried to sign the Mexican striker before, when they had lost David Villa to Barcelona in the summer of 2010, with certain club officials not quite sure whether the striker would be able to cope with European football coming straight from the Mexican league.

However, following Chicharito's success with Manchester United and the sizeable windfall Soldado's sale would bring to the Spanish side's coffers, Valencia are hoping to lure the 25-year-old to the Mestalla this summer with the promise of regular first-team football.

Hernandez had found playing time hard to come by at Old Trafford after the arrival of Robin van Persie. But with Wayne Rooney being linked with an exit from the club this summer, United would not welcome any bids for their super-sub.

Valencia are also maintaining an interest in Brazilian duo Leandro Damiao and Fred.

Damiao, who has been a target for a number of European clubs this summer, is reportedly on the verge of joing Zenit St Petersburg.

Fred, 29, is currently on a contract with Brazilian club Fluminense and has already played in Europe before, when he spent four seasons with French side Olympique Lyonnais.
