Five of the best: New attacking forces (3)

Lionel Messi & Neymar | Barçelona

The 21-year-old Brazilian is widely expected to relieve a portion of the immense pressure that has been weighing on Lionel Messi for the past few seasons.

Neymar’s long awaited European move has received mixed reviews. Some pundits claim he will reawaken the all conquering juggernaut the Catalan club was under Pep Guardiola, and others are convinced his selfish, albeit spectacular, style is discordant with the traditional Barça way.

Despite his youth, the former Santos wonderkid has already wowed the football world with plentiful moments of individual brilliance - similar to his Argentine team-mate.

His megastar status in Brazil proves his ability to single-handedly lead a club, but the prospect of either partnering or succeeding the best player in the world at Barçelona is a speculative one indeed.

If the Brazilian’s previous exploits are anything to go by, a Neymar/ Messi partnership has the potential to go down as one of the most formidable in history.
