Manchester City's summer signing, Stevan Jovetic, has revealed he shunned interest from Serie A giants Juventus in order to secure a switch to the Etihad stadium.
Reports had suggested that Jovetic, 23, was close to finalising a move to the Italian champions, before Manuel Pellgrini nipped in to poach the Montenegro international from under the nose of Juventus.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Jovetic conceded that he could have made the move to Turin, but opted for City after the Citizens firmed up their interest.
"Juventus looked at me, they were interested," said Jovetic.
"But it was my decision, and I chose Man City."
Whilst many players view the Premier League as the pinnacle of their career and would jump at the chance to test themselves in England's top flight, the 23-year-old forward left Fiorentina with a heavy heart having enjoyed his time with Viola.
And Jovetic believes the club have spent wisely, having received a significant sum for his transfer.
"To my family Della Valle I will be bounded always a deep affection," he added.
"Best wishes and good luck for the new season, you'll do really good things."
