Speculation that Gaston Ramirez may leave Southampton has heightened after the player's agent refused to dismiss the claims as merely 'rumours.'

According to The Sun, Ramirez would be open to a move to Inter Milan and would seriously consider his future were the Italian giants to make a move.

Inter, who finished a lowly 9th in the Serie A last season, are in the market for a striker and, following reports of a shock move for Cesc Fabregas being predictably quashed, may well see Ramirez as the ideal candidate.

The Uruguayan midfielder joined the Saints from Bologna last summer for £12 million and the 22-year-old enjoyed a productive season at the St. Mary's Stadium.

As aforementioned, Ramirez is believed to be open to a transfer to Milan. His agent, Pablo Betancourt did little to dispel the gossip:

“If Inter want him he’ll cost them a significant sum.

"Italy remains in his heart. If an offer comes in, we’ll consider it.”

Betancourt went on to finish with: "I don’t think they’re just rumours, since even in England they’re calling me up and asking about Inter’s interest."
