Wesley Sneijder admits talks with Chelsea manager

Published 5 Comments

Wesley Sneijder has confirmed that he remains in contact with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho – but played down the possibility of a switch from Galatasaray.

The 28-year-old Dutch playmaker was snapped-up by ‘the special one’ in 2009 during his spell in charge if Inter Milan, and the 93-cap international has subsequently been linked with a reunion in west London.

Speculation since had claimed that the former Ajax sensation was keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, but Sneijder has cooled talk of a transfer.

And, whilst he’s happy to admit that he’s in regular contact with Mourinho, he’s assured Galatasaray fans that it’s not because he’s seeking a move to Chelsea.

"I am always in talks with Mourinho. I am in contact with him right now," said Sneijder, according to TalkSPORT

"But this has nothing to do with any transfer negotiations. We are good friends and keep in touch regularly."

Chelsea have already added to their squad this summer, with Andre Schurrle, Marco van Ginkel and Carlos Cuevas making the move to the Premier League.

Sneijder would have offered the Blues some experience that none of the aforementioned three have, but a move no longer appears to be in the offing for the former Real Madrid star.
