Andrew Bynum may get a hostile reception the next time he plays at the Staples Center, after he indadvertedly stated that the La Lakers' fans lack passion.

The controversial comment came as the centre was being unveiled by new team the Cleveland Cavaliers. While being interviewed by Fox Sports, Bynum was initially optimistic about his future.

But then he referred to his new fanbase, and the sport-loving characteristics of the Cleveland population.

"I just know that they're really, really passionate and I haven't had the opportunity to play for a city that is really just gonna stand up and really support the team, I'm super excited and I can't wait to see what it's like," said Bynum to reporters.

After playing over 400 games for the Californian side, many Lakers fans would not have seen this comment coming.

Bynum suffered injuries during his time in Los Angeles, but the fans stuck by him, and will now feel let down by their former player.
