Norwich steal march on QPR in hunt for Hooper
The Canaries have matched Rangers' bid for the Celtic striker - he prefers the Premier League
Norwich may pull off a last minute steal for Queens Park Rangers' target Gary Hooper, according to BBC Sport
The Celtic forward was said to be close to signing for Harry Redknapp's side, after a £5 million bid was accepted by Celtic, but reports suggest Norwich have now matched that offer.
Hooper, who scored 31 goals last season as Celtic cruised to a triumphant league and cup double, has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League and given the choice between the two sides, it is Norwich who will surely appeal more.
QPR boss Redknapp had previously backed Hooper to help fire his side immediately back up to English football's top flight, but his plans may have been scuppered by Norwich's last minute intervention.
Hooper, 25, is now expected to have a medical at Carrow Road this afternoon, and providing that proceeds without any hinderance, could seal his move to the Premiership.
The striker, who was deployed as a substitute during Tuesday's Champions League qualifying victory over Cliftonville, will be Norwich's seventh signing of the summer if the move comes to fruition.
