Top five: Fantasy Premier League players
Five players you must have in your fantasy teams ahead of the 2013/14 Premier League campaign
Nobody can predict the future, but sometimes some of these players will have a point to prove, and improve in a huge way.
Some could be like Christian Benteke, score goals when you least expect it and they could get you those points to pip your friends. Not all of the big guns are featured here such as Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie, but we have a few surprise names and then a couple of obvious must-have players in your team.
Olivier Giroud | Striker | Arsenal
After his first season in the Premier League, many could have written him off. However, after a season of adaptation, criticism, and 17 goals across all competitions, this player will be a must-have in your Fantasy team.
Having scored six goals in three preseason games, some cute finishes, this player will be a cheaper option who can definitely deliver. If, however, Arsenal do sign Suarez and Giroud finds himself mostly on the bench, find someone else.
Philippe Coutinho | Midfielder | Liverpool
Having enjoyed a very successful end-of-season with Liverpool last season, all eyes will be on Coutinho to reproduce the form that saw him score three goals and bag five assists in 12 starts. Watch out for him feeding Sturridge and being the heart of a Liverpool team if Suarez does leave.
Gareth Bale | Midfielder | Tottenham Hotspur
This player doesn't really need any explaining, 21 goals in 33 appearances from the midfield is an incredible tally, and next year if he does stay, he will be expected to carry Spurs into one of those top four places.
Expect him to be as prolific as ever and at the height of his powers if he does stay.
Leighton Baines | Defender | Everton
Leighton Baines has been a consistent player every season and he will be coming to the height of his powers as a defender. If Roberto Martinez decides to go with a back three and use Baines as an attacking wing-back, expect Baines to get you more than a few points for your team.
Joe Hart | Goalkeeper | Manchester City
Not the best keeper in the league, but City do have the best defensive record in the league last season and don't expect anything to change.
Kompany and Nastasic will shield Hart and he should end the season as the keeper with the most points. Pantilimon is also his only competition and he isn't injury-prone, so he could start all of City's games and get you those points.
