Having made a second bid for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabreagas, Manchester United may have more encouragement to continue their pursuit of the midfielder following revelations this morning.

Reports in the Daily Mail suggest that Fabregas has told friends back in England that he would relish the chance to join the reigning champions and team up with Robin van Persie once again.

Having made two bids for the services of the Spaniard, it seems that United are readying a third bid, despite much insistence from Barcelona that the midfielder is not for sale. But with a change of manager, and the lack of first-team action since his return to the Camp Nou, United are reluctant to give up the chase.

United are in need of depth in the centre of midfield following the final retirement of legend Paul Scholes, and Fabregas would be the world-class midfielder that David Moyes has admitted he needs in his squad.

Despite having the likes of Carrick, Kagawa and Cleverley to fill these positions, Moyes feels he needs to add depth to the midfield situation at Old Trafford.

And with Fabregas failing to win a place in the Barca side each week, Moyes could easily assure Fabregas he would be an integral part of the United squad as they look to begin life without Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm.

With big boots to fill, it is little wonder that Moyes wants to make a big signing to show that it is business as usual for the record breaking champions. And having lost such a valuable asset in Scholes, he will be seeking a player that can make the same impact as "Mr Sat Nav" did for Sir Alex for so long.

But Moyes will have other options should a move for Fabregas fail to come through. There are continued suggestions that he will go back to his former employers Everton, with both Fellaini and Baines being mentioned with teaming up with Moyes once again at United.

But United seemed reluctant to give up on Fabregas, and should he ask to leave Barca then their stance may change. At 26, Fabregas would have the ideal opportunity to add a Premier League title alongside the La Liga Championship he won with Barca last season.

And with Van Persie ahead of him once again, the chance to re-ignite their partnership from their Arsenal days must also work in United's favour.

Having made just one signing so far this summer, United fans will feel anxious as both Chelsea and Manchester City have spent yet again. With City adding to their attacking line and Mourinhio masterminding Chelsea's comeback this season, Red Devils everywhere will be hoping to see some major business before the season starts.

Gerard Pique has publicly stated United are 'wasting their time' and that he is happy back in his hometown of Barcelona.  But should he not get any assurances over his future and squad status, a move back to the Premier League is very much an option for the talented midfielder.
