Wayne Rooney has been tirelessly linked with a move to Chelsea this summer and understandably, Mourinho could be eager to see this one through.
The new Chelsea boss, returning for his second stint in charge, has just completed a successful tour of Asia and claims he is calm over the ongoing Rooney saga.
The Portuguese tactician earlier admitted that the Blues had made a bid for Rooney, but it's been reported that the bid was firmly rejected.
New rumours have emerged however that the Stamford Bridge outfit are preparing a fresh proposal to try and secure the services of the England international.
Chelsea are understandably keen to sign Rooney as he is a household name who will regularly score in excess of 30-goals-a-season under the correct management.
Mourinho can offer Rooney the management and perhaps the motivation that Moyes cannot. He can help him take that one step further in his career, not just aiding the player, or Chelsea, but also enhancing the national side's chances of success in next year's World Cup.
What separates Rooney from Chelsea's other striker targets is that he contributes to multiple areas of the play. If he is not scoring himself he is assisting for one of his team-mates.
Wayne Rooney sitting just ahead of Chelsea's 'three-amigos' could be a deadly foursome which could fire the Blues to domestic and European glory.
