'Next Lionel Messi' turns down Barcelona

Published 42 Comments

Barcelona's youth academy La Masia has become renowned for its ability to produce world-class footballing talent over the last decade.

The likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas have all come through the system with the jewel in the crown being Lionel Messi.

So the offer to join the famed academy would be a dream come true for any young footballer -  not for Cassiano Bouzaon however.

The young Brazilian prodigy, who was hailed as the 'next Messi' when clips of him were posted on YouTube, has turned down the chance to join up with the La Liga champions.

12-year-old Bouzaon was reportedly unhappy with the offer Barcelona made him after a successful three-week trial in Spain, instead opting to join Flamengo in his native Brazil.

According to Globosport, Barcelona were unwilling to pay for his family to move with him.

It seems Barcelona will have to settle with just one Lionel Messi for the timebeing.
