Southampton anticipate developments in the next four to five days in their pursuit of Leandro Damiao.

Whilst there has been no agreement to-date, talks have been continuing between Southampton, Internacional and the representatives of Damiao over a number of weeks.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move to fellow English club Tottenham Hotspur, but the deal was thwarted on several occasions.

In more recent times, the Brazilian international had been linked with big spenders Napoli - but the Serie A side are sitting back having captured Gonzalo Higuain.

Reports from TuttoMercatoWeb suggest that developments are likely to occur in the next four or five days, with Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese feeling confident and positive as talks between the parties continue.

Damiao is believed to be Mauricio Pochettino's number one target as he seeks to add another striker to their existing compliment of Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez and Emmanuel Mayuka.

Cortese revealed that Southampton had already bought in two of their three key targets for the summer window in Dejan Lovren and Victor Wanyama, and it is believed that Damiao may be the final name in the club's wishlist.
