Tottenham are negotiating with Gareth Bale over a new contract, according to manager Andre Villas-Boas.
The Welshman was the star of last season in the Premier league, picking up both the PFA Players' Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards.
He has since however been endlessly linked with a move away from the north London side - with both Real Madrid and Manchester United said to be interested in the winger.
Spurs boss Villas-Boas has insisted throughout the saga that Bale will be going nowhere this summer.
This now appears to be true as the Portuguese tactician has revealed the club are in talks with the winger over a new contract.
"There was contact between the club and his agent last year and there is ongoing contact between the club and his agent," Villas-Boas told the BBC.
"Talks are ongoing but that doesn't mean there is an agreement."
Whether Gareth Bale will be a Tottenham player come the transfer deadline in early September remains to be seen, but this is a good sign for Spurs fans.
