Takumi Minamino scores stunner for Cerezo Osaka in draw against Manchester United
Japanese starlet Takumi Minamoto has propelled himself into the spotlight with a sublime goal for Cerezo Osaka in their 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
The 18-year-old forward wasn’t to be outdone by some of the illustrious names in the opposition, and showed the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie how it’s done in the J-League.
For the record, Kenyu Sugimoto opened the scoring for the hosts, before Kagawa equalised for the tourists. The attacking-midfielder had missed a penalty moments earlier.
Then came Minamoto’s moment of brilliance, with the former U17 international picking the ball up 20-yards from goal and unleashing an unstoppable effort into the top corner past Anders Lindegaard.
Osaka looked set to claim a famous friendly victory, but Wilfried Zaha had other ideas, tapping home into an empty net in injury-time to secure a point.
It was Minamino’s moment of brilliance which was the highlight of the game however, and you can watch the strike below…
