Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand lost four kilograms in the club's 2-2 pre-season draw against Cerezo Osaka on Friday.

The centre-back posted on Twitter: '2-2 vs Cerezo Osaka..very good team, hard game for the lads. Tough humid conditions, I lost 4kgs during the game..90mins played so on we go!'

The Premier League champions have completed their back-to-back games in Japan, and they now head to Hong Kong for their next pre-season match.

Manchester United new signing Wilfried Zaha saved the club from another pre-season defeat as he scored an injury-time goal to spare David Moyes' blushes.

The United boss is concerned about the pitch conditions in Hong Kong, where teams including Tottenham and Sunderland have played recently on waterlogged pitches.

"I do have concerns about the surface. It is mainly due to the weather," Moyes said.

"We will travel to Hong Kong and hope the conditions improve and the pitch is in a better state than it has been in recently."
