The Radamel Falcao age scandal took another twist last night, and it could be the last as pictures of the player's birth certificate appeared to confirm he is 27 years old.

The Colombian international striker, who swapped Atletico Madrid for AS Monaco in a staggering £53million deal earlier this summer, was reported to be two-years older than previously claimed after documents from his primary school were released.

However, newspaper El Tiempo have defender their compatriot, and published a picture of the player's birth certificate - which appears to confirm February 10th, 1986 as the correct DOB.

That would make Falcao the age that FIFA had on their records, and in the mind of Falcao, the whole situation has been 'ridiculous'.

"I have been surprised with stories in the media about my age. They are totally ridiculous," he wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

"I want to deny these claims and end this issue once and for all."
The news will be a major relief to Falcao, who can now focus on making his marking in Ligue 1 after the big-money move to France.
Much is expected of the Monaco side this season, with James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho and Eric Abidal also joining Claudio Ranieiri's recently promoted side.
