Chelsea in Khedira battle

Published 6 Comments

Chelsea are being linked with an €18million move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

Spanish paper Sport claims new Blues boss Jose Mourinho could look to be re-united with one of his old players from the Santiago Bernabeu, as the German international becomes available for transfer.

The potential arrival of Geoffrey Kondogbia in Madrid will open the door for the 26-year-old's Los Blancos exit, the report claims, and the Blues face competition from AS Monaco for the former Stuttgart starlet's signature.

Khedira was not a guaranteed starter under 'the special one' last season, but played over 30 games in each of the three season's he's been in Spain's capital.

And, having signed the player whilst in charge of the La Liga runners-up, Mourinho is in the running to repeat the trick now he's back in west London at Stamford Bridge.

The defensive-midfielder would add some depth to the Chelsea squad in that particular position, with John Obi-Mikel, Michael Essien, Ramires and David Luiz the other options in a probable 4-2-3-1 formation.
Khedira isn't the only plater to be linked with the Blues though, and Kondogbia has been on the Premier League outfit's radar as well in the recent past.
