The WWE are searching for a top African American baby-face, according to The Wrestling Observer.

The WWE currently has six African American superstars on their main roster, three of which are baby-faces, but the WWE doesn’t believe that any of these superstars have the potential to be a main event star.

The reason the WWE are looking for a top African American baby-face is so that they can start to attract more of the African American demographic, in much the same way as Rey Mysterio attracts the Latino demographic.

WWE has tried to transform Kofi Kingston, R-Truth and Mark Henry into top baby-faces over the years however the fans never truly bought into the idea. Big E was initially planned to turn on Dolph Ziggler and become a baby-face but that idea was changed when Ziggler became a baby-face.

One superstar WWE believe could be a top baby-face is NXT superstar Xavier Woods, formerly known as Consequences Creed. Creed joined the WWE in 2010 at the age of 24 after spending a reasonably successful three year stint in TNA.

Woods is not what Vince McMahon would see as the archetypal main-eventer however it is widely believed by WWE officials that Woods could be a top main-eventer, as he has a better look and is better on the mike than Mysterio.

Some say McMahon never understood why the fans bought into the character of Mysterio as he isn’t what he would want a main-eventer to look like and believes that if the fans can buy into Mysterio, they would do the same with Woods.
