4. Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham Hotspur)

Jan Vertonghen was by far, one of the most impressive defenders of last season. He's technical, intelligent, and adapts well to situations on the pitch. He was the glue in Tottenham's defence during his debut season in England.

Vertonghen has a powerful shot and is naturally attack-minded. In many instances it's been helpful for Tottenham, but it can leave dangerous gaps in defence.

The Spurs man won an impressive 68% of his duels last season, and only made one lethal defensive error.
