Having won Ligue 1 last season, Paris Saint-Germain seemed to be rather confident coming into the transfer window.

Although they have a new manager in Laurent Blanc, they minimum aim will be to retain the Ligue 1 trophy.

But having beaten Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea to the signing of Edinson Cavani, they are looking at going one or two better and winning the treble in the coming season.

They should find no difficulty in beating off new French contenders AS Monaco, and thus will solely be focussing on building their team to beat the European giants of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund.

I take a look at how they might be lining up next season.

GK- Salvatore Sirigu

There are no doubts about this one. Sirigu was fantastic for PSG last season and he has to be their undisputed number 1 between the posts. Laurent Blanc would hope he can continue playing the way he did last season for the Parisians.

RB-Christophe Jallet

Although I prefer Gregory van der Wiel starting as the right-back, based on current form and performance, I would have to pick Jallet. He was one of the more under-rated right backs last season and definitely deserves to be in this star studded line-up

CB- Thiago Silva and Marquinhos

Although, they do have Mamadou Sakho, Diego Lugano and Alex to support Thiago Silva, I expect Marquinhos to start for PSG next season. I watched him play a few games for Roma and I must say, he is one terrific defender. Composed and a really good tackler. You don’t get high bids from teams like Barcelona if you aren’t really worth it. I expect Sakho to be the rotatory option while Alex and Lugano might get very few games next season.

LB- Lucas Digne

Lucas Digne is yet another solid signing by PSG this summer. With Maxwell ageing and past his prime, they have made a bold move in bringing in this youngster from LOSC Lille. He is the one to watch out for.

Defensive Midfield- Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti

They do have Thiago Motta and Mohamed Sissoko as cover but none can disagree that Matuidi and Verratti are the sure-starters here.

Attacking Midfield– Ezequiel Lavezzi, Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore

Choosing a stabilized and more preferred 4-2-3-1 system, we have Ezequiel Lavezzi on the wings along with Lucas Moura. Pastore slots in the number 10 role. PSG have Jeremy Menez as cover with either Moura or Ibrahimovic slotting into the number 10 role from time to time. They are also rumours that they may be close to signing Manchester United outcast Nani. I just don't see how they cannot go past the Champions League semifinals with that team.

And to top it all off, their...

Striker– I really cannot pick one

When you have the top scorers of the Ligue 1 and the Serie A of last season both in the same squad now, you really cannot just pick one. Frankly, both Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic seem to be fantastic as the lone striker and somehow although lip-smacking, I just don’t see the two playing as two strikers together. If you do expect to see them on the field at the same point, expect one of them to drop a little deeper than the other. Both otherwise, I really can’t come to a conclusion as to who would be the better pick up front.
