Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he is feeling 80% fit so far and admits that he cannot wait for the season to get underway.
The Gunners have recently flown back to England from their Far East pre-season tour, which saw them go to; Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan.
Arsene Wenger's men took part in four games during their tour, winning all four of them and scoring 19 goals in the process.
Arsenal will now prepare themselves for their annual pre-season competition, The Emirates Cup, which takes place this weekend as they entertain Napoli, Galatasaray and Porto at the Emirates Stadium for the two-day event.
Wilshere, who has just returned from minor ankle surgery, featured twice during the Far East tour and is excited at the chance of playing a full 90 minutes in the Emirates Cup.
The midfielder has also admitted that at the moment, he is feeling 80% fit for the new season, but is confident by the time the 17th of August comes around, he will be fit and raring to go.
"I felt better and better every game," he told Arsenal Player. "It's difficult with the conditions. You struggle to catch your breath. The performances have got better every game and the opposition have got harder every game so it's good preparation.
"We've got the Emirates Cup coming up now and then Manchester City [in Helsinki] and then the season starts so we're going to be flying. I'm probably 80 per cent fit. We've got a couple more tests and then we'll be ready."
It was the Emirates Cup that gave Wilshere the platform to showcase his talent to the Arsenal fans when he was breaking through into the first-team and it was also the competition that saw him get injured and miss 17-months of action.
