Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes Spanish striker Fernando Torres will benefit from competition for places this, season as the Portugese may add to his team before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
Torres and Demba Ba were the only first team strikers in the second half of last season, but now Romelu Lukaku has returned from his loan spell at West Brom, and Chelsea have completed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle.
Mourinho said: "I think Fernando should be happy because we have competition in the team and that is good for everybody in every position.
"I think Fernando will be pleased because during his time at Chelsea he was basically the only striker and then after that there was the arrival of Ba in January.
"Now the team has three other strikers and that is good."
Chelsea are still chasing unsettled Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, but have had their latest bid rejected.
Mourinho spoke about the matter at hand and said: "At this moment we have made what you know; that bid which was public and official and after that nothing else. But we are calm because we are happy with what we have."
Chelsea at this moment in time are looking for no alternatives to Rooney, and could start the season with the squad they currently have unless they get their man.
