Arsenal are ready to smash their record transfer in a final bid to secure the services of Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.
This bid would come after two previous bids of £30million and £40million plus £1 failed to secure the player's services, but the club are confident that a third offer of £42.5million will be enough to convince Liverpool to sell Suarez, according to The Daily Express.
Uruguay international Suarez made his desire to leave the Reds public earlier this month, with Real Madrid his preferred destination. But, Suarez changed his tune on learning that Arsenal are interested in signing him, admitting he was flattered by the interest.
Liverpool are reluctant to allow the 26-year-old to leave though, as they have seen many of their top players depart Anfield in recent years. However, Suarez believes he can push through a move to Arsenal before the start of the season.
Arsenal will hope to wrap up the deal before the Premier League season starts on August 18, to give Suarez time to bond with his new teammate.
However, Suarez will not walk straight into the Arsenal first team, as he still has to serve six games of a ten game ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic during a league fixture at Anfield last season.
