Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti has sensationally claimed that Jose Mourinho could return to the club, in as little as three years time.
Goal.com reports that Mourinho told Moratti himself that the pair would work together once more.
Inter Milan were a powerful European force with Mourinho at the helm, winning the Champions League and a Serie A double, but have seen their fortunes slip since the 'Special One's' departure.
Moratti has revealed that he and Mourinho had a phone call, with the former wishing to offer the latter his congratulations on his appointment at Chelsea, and it was then that Mourinho speculated on the possibility of a return to Italy.
“I called Mourinho to give him by best wishes on his return to Chelsea," Moratti said.
“What did Jose say back to me? He told me that in three years we will see each other again at Inter.”
The validity of the comments made by the Inter chief haven't, and probably won't receive any sort of solid affirmation, but Mourinho is hardly a one-man club, and has frequently told how happy he was whilst in charge of Inter.
Current Inter boss, Walter Mazzarri, has his work cut out for him as the former Serie A giants finished a lowly 9th in the league last season.
Mourinho meanwhile will be busy preparing to launch the first assault of his second reign as Chelsea boss, and with the Premier League as competitive as ever, there will be little time for distractions.
