Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas has backed his club's pursuit of Tottenham star Gareth Bale.
The La Liga giants are reportedly on the verge of launching a bid in excess of 100million euros for the Welshman and Casillas has said he would welcome Bale to the Bernabeu.
Speaking on Real Madrid's pre-season tour of America, Casillas said: "We are talking about one of the top three or four best players in Europe.
"It's normal that his name is being discussed because he has all the qualities a footballer needs."
Bale's proposed transfer to Real Madrid may be a drawn out affair with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy known for his 'my way or no way' attitude.
Spanish keeper Casillas believes the transfer would be 'controversial' because of Bale's stature in the game.
"Every transfer is controversial in its own way, for better or worse, but we are speaking about a very good, decisive player," added Casillas.
"I'm sure we'll make another signing before the transfer window shuts."
Real Madrid will face stiff competition from Manchester United for Bale's signature and the Daily Star have reported that the Red Devils have made a bid for the winger.
French giants Paris St-Germain have also expressed an interest in securing Bale's services.
