Dan Connor have apologised for his arrest and is focusing on his return to the New York Giants starting line-up.
The 27-year-old is competing with Mark Herzlich for the middle linebacker position.
Connor was arrested earlier this month at Philadelphia International Airport for allegedly carrying a switchblade inside his luggage.
When asked about the incident, Connor called it a 'misunderstanding', claiming he did not know he had the pocketknife in his bag.
“I’ve got to prove to everyone that I’m not that type of guy. Hopefully the coaches got to know that,” he said, according to SB Nation.
“I’m responsible for it and I have to accept any punishments handed out,” said Connor.
Despite the arrest, the former Penn State starlet is hoping for a return to the side, which currently sees Herzlich in pole position.
“There’s no jobs given out, players who’ve been around for a while are older – they are trying to replace them with younger and hungrier guys,” added Connor.
The third round draft pick in 2008 began his career at the Carolina Panthers, and spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys before moving to their NFC East rivals.
