New Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino has handed the club's officials a five-man shortlist as to who he wants to sign as a centre-back, and all five of them are currently playing in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, the new boss, who took over from Tito Vilanova due to illness, met with the club's sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta on Monday to outline his transfer targets and he told the director to sign him at least one of the five names on the list.

Barcelona's main area for concern from last season and heading into the new season is in the heart of their defence having been forced to play midfielders Javier Mascherano and Alex Song at the back due to injuries sustained by centre-back pairing Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol.

The Spanish champions have already failed to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Silva after the Brazilian signed a new contract with the French champions and their attentions have now turned to the Premier League.

Find out which five defenders are wanted by Barcelona!
