After joining Manchester United for €25.5 million in 2007, Nani, full name Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha, scored his opening goal for United on the 26th August.
Nani netted a 30-yard screamer in the 69th-minute to win the game against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Portuguese winger went on to prove his potential, by scoring 3 goals and assisting six times in 16 games and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League. Nani also managed to claim three assists in the Champions League. In total Nani made 26 appearances and 15-substitute appearance in his first season at Old Trafford.
However in the season 2008/09, Nani only managed to make 7 starts and 6 substitute appearances for Manchester United, mostly because of Cristiano Ronaldo's unbeatable form, and only netted one goal with two assists in those appearances.
In the 2009/10 season Nani started 19 games and scored 4 goals whilst assisting six more. This season came on the back of Cristiano Ronaldo's sale to Real Madrid in June that year, the expectation for Nani to fill the boots of the 24-year-old star was mounting.
Finally in 2010/11 Nani found some form, starting a grand total of 31 Premier League games and scoring nine goals on top of 14 assists. Once again the following season Nani started 24 Premier League game, which led the Portuguese winger to score eight goals and assist 10 further goals.
In the last season, Nani only started 15 games in all competitions for Manchester United due to a metatarsal injury sustained in a tackle from center-back Laurent Kolscielny in a game against Arsenal, that left the Portuguese international out for 2 months.
Having missed the pre-season tour with United, Nani played in the recent friendly against Crewe Alexandra where the winger netted a duo of goals. Nani may face stiff competition as the young Wilfred Zaha has impressed with a string of fantastic performances.
With the on-form Zaha, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young still in contention for the winger position can Nani prove to the new Red Devils boss David Moyes that he is a first choice option?
There is however interest from Monaco to sign the out-of-form Portuguese international, Monaco having already spent an excess of £115m this transfer window and are looking to add more big names to there squad, could Nani fit into the Ligue 1 outfit and would Manchester United benefit from the sale or lose a valuable asset to the club?
