Joey Barton is keen for a move to Goodison Park to join Everton, according to the midfielder's agent.
Willie McKay, the agent of Barton, has admitted that his player would love a move to Roberto Martinez's side, having grown up a big fan of the Merseyside club.
McKay told the Daily Mail: "I spoke to Roberto to see if he would be interested in taking Joey.
"I told him that Joey would love to join Everton and that they are the only club he willing to lose money to play for."
Barton, who was hit with a 12-match ban whilst playing for QPR, spent last season on loan at French side Marseille, and played a pivotal role in the Ligue 1 side's qualification for the Champions League.
The midfielder who was recently voted 'the most punchable footballer' in a survey by Askmen.com, is said to be prepared to take a significant pay-cut to force through a move to the Toffees.
The 30-year-old is currently believed to be earning £70,000 a week.
Martinez is desperate to add a defensive midfielder to his squad before the start of the Premier League season on August 17th.
Sevilla's Gary Medel and Wigan's James McCarthy are two players Martinez is thought to have an interest in, however both will come with a hefty price tag.
Barton would be a much more economically viable option for the Toffees, who kick off their Premier League campaign against Chris Hughton's Norwich City.
