Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley has said he is not interested in returning to Cardiff City, the club he left to move to Celtic Park in 2010.
It had been reported that the Bluebirds were interested in bringing him back to the Cardiff City Stadium for £3million, but Ledley dismissed the idea.
The 26-year-old said: “It’s just rumours at the moment. There has been nothing official.
“A lot of players want to play in the Premier League and that’s why they have done pretty well with their signings so far.
“It does attract people but, at the moment, I’m with Celtic and I’m just concentrating on a big week ahead of me.”
The Welsh international went on say that he thinks the club should sign another striker to replace Gary Hooper before the end of the transfer window.
The Hoops have already begun their Champions League campaign by defeating Cliftonville in the second qualifying round, and they face Elfsborg tonight, in a tie where they could at least seal qualification for the Europa League should they progress.
Ledley has said that Anthony Stokes will need an efficient strike partner to help the Bhoys towards defending their Scottish league title, as well as match last season’s run in the Champions League, where they reached the knockout stages.
“We need another striker," he added simply.
“No disrespect to any that we’ve got but, with losing Gary, you’ve got to think of injuries as well.
“Another striker would be nice but that’s down to the gaffer and the coaching staff to bring someone in. We all believe in Anthony Stokes. He’s a fantastic player and since he’s been here he has scored a lot of goals.
“Hopefully, we can get a nice partnership with him and a new striker that we bring in.”
The Welsh international has won two SPL titles and two Scottish Cups since moving north of the border three years ago.
