Chelsea defender David Luiz is a top transfer target for Barcelona this summer, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan club could use another central defender, as Carles Puyol continues to be plagued by injury, and Marc Muniesa has left for Stoke City this summer.
Both Alex Song and Javier Mascherano have partnered Gerard Pique in the last couple of seasons, but those players arrived at the club as midfielders, only to be converted to fit the mould of a ball-playing defender.
Meanwhile the last specialised centre-back to be signed by the European giants was Dmytro Chygrynskiy, who only spent one season at the Nou Camp before returning to Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Spanish daily newspaper is reporting that Barca's two prime targets are Luiz and Daniel Agger, and that they are hoping to lure one of them away from the Premier League before the end of the summer.
Either of these players would seemingly fit into the Barcelona system without much bother at all.
Luiz himself has shown he is more than capable of also operating in midfield, and he has a great passing range.
Luiz arrived in London for a reported £21.3million, which will encourage Chelsea to demand a high price for the Brazilian.
