Hull FC booked a Challenge Cup final date with Wigan Warriors after a close fought battle with the Warrington Wolves at the Galpharm Stadium.

The Wire struck first when Ben Westwood showed a great turn of pace to break through the line and feed winger Joel Monaghan the ball to score in the corner.

Hull then had another blow by losing fullback Shannon McDonnell whilst Stefan Ratchford narrowly missed the conversion.

Ratchford then placed a nice grubber kick through the defensive line for Trent Waterhouse to get on the end of and score the Wolves second try of the game whilst under pressure from two defenders - the kick was once again missed but  by Chris Bridge.

Hull's young winger Tom Lineham then picked out an attacking kick by The Wolves to run the full length of the field and get Hull on the scoreboard.

Hull then got there second through Richard Whiting then got on the scoreboard to give the black and whites the lead 10-8 at half time.

After the break, Man of the Match Daniel Holdsworth produced a piece of magic to tighten Hull's grip on a final place. His perfectly weighted grubber kick was touched down under the posts by Aaron Heremaia. With Danny Tickle landing the extras, Hull had an eight-point lead with 30 minutes left in the game.

Encouraged by the large following, the Hull defence managed to hold on despite a late break away try from Ben Currie, and a nervy last set of six.

This meant Hull booked themselves a final date on the 24th August against the Warriors.

The Hull FC fans will hope this squad can emulate the cup winning side of 2005.
