The fierce rivalry between Dawn Approach and Toronado looks set to continue as it was announced they would both be competing at the Glorious Goodwood event, BBC Sport reports.

Dawn Approach marginally edged out Toronado at Royal Ascot having recorded a triumph over him at Newmarket.

With his horse now building towards completing a hat-trick of victories over a close opponent, Dawn Approach's trainer, Jim Bolger, is full of optimism.

"I'd say he's a hard horse to get past. Kevin Manning has been riding him since April or May the previous year, so there's nothing he doesn't know about him at this stage," Bolger told BBC Sport.

"I couldn't be happier with him.

"He has a great mind and a great constitution. He's a very sound horse and, of course, he has the ability to match," he finished.

Toronado only lost to Dawn Approach by a short head when the two raced at Royal Ascot, with the event climaxing in almost photo-finish fashion.

Richard Hannon, Toronado's trainer, is confident his horse is ready: "We think the track will suit him and his preparation has gone smoothly."

The race at Glorious Goodwood, being dubbed the 'Duel of the Downs,' is one that will have many fans expecting yet another close contest between Dawn Approach and Toronado.

The ongoing saga between the two has made headlines all season, and this next event looks to be no different.
