Since making a £15 million move to Barcelona, Song's talents have gone unnoticed by the masses. Should Song consider making a return to Arsenal?
Song, 25, played at least 38 games per season for Arsenal in the last four seasons he was with them and became known for his sturdy work in midfield, in an otherwise shaky Arsenal defence.
He was particularly valuable in his final season for Arsenal, which saw him earn 46 appearances, one goal and 14 assists.
He is particularly remembered in this season because of the deadly partnership he shared with Robin van Persie - an unstoppable combination.
Along with becoming a great passer, Song strengthened the midfield and was as solid as a rock in front of the back-four. Arsenal only ever looked solid defensively when he played in deeper midfield position.
Since his departure a year ago, Song has made only 20 appearances for Barcelona while contributing no goals and one assist to the Catalan giants.
He has not won over the fans of Barcelona either after what appeared to be a handbag throwing contest with Gerard Pique atop their double decker bus during the parade of their La Liga victory.
Arsenal have become a selling club in recent years however, this summer they have appeared to put a halt to that.
Now they need to buy big players with Luis Suarez hot on the lips of Arsenal fans and with good reason after Arsenal lodged a couple of bids for the Uruguayan.
However, a cheaper option could be the return of Alex Song. A player that was valued and played often at Arsenal but is not so highly rated over at Barcelona.
With the money they claim to have it would be an easy buy for Arsenal to achieve and would work wonders for their squad and with give them a solid base to work from.
