Luis Suarez recently claimed that he wanted to leave England, citing the media as the main reason for his decision.
However, after Real Madrid's interest in him having cooled down, especially with their pursuit of Gareth Bale, and no other foreign suitors for the striker, Suarez seems to be staying in England for another year.
With Arsenal being at the forefront of the chase for one of the best players in the Premier League last year, the Daily Mail now claims that their bitter north London rivals are closely on their trails with the signing of Suarez.
Arsenal have recently had a bid in excess of £40 million rejected for Suarez, with Arsene Wenger recently claiming that he is 'willing to wait' in order to sign the Uruguay international.
With the expected influx of money if and when Bale is sold, Tottenham have a huge void to fill as well as the finances with which to do so.
Having already agreed a deal for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado for a reported fee in excess of £25 million, Tottenham seem to be preparing for life after Bale by joining Arsenal in the race for the highly controversial former Ajax captain.
Tottenham may have a hard time of convincing Suarez though, with the striker reportedly being interested in playing in the Champions League next season and may not see Spurs as a step up from his current club, Liverpool.
Liverpool are also seemingly holding out for a bid closer to their £55 million valuation.
