LA Lakers star Steve Nash might be better known for his skills on the basketball court, but it’s his ability on the football pitch that has caught the imagination in America.

Fancifully billed as a ‘try out’, it was more of an opportunity for the former Phoenix Suns point guard to have a kick-around with some of the best players in Serie ‘A’.

"Sort of, yeah. I think that’s the way it’s being labeled," said Nash when asked if it was a try out last week.
And, as it turned out, Nash appeared to more than hold his own during a training session with the Italian giants.

He certainly relished the opportunity at the New York Red Bulls training facility, admitting it was a dream come true to play with some of the game’s elite as they prepare for an exhibition match in the Big Apple.

“I’m going to get a chance to train with Inter Milan, one of the biggest soccer teams in the world. I’m nervous,” he said in the video below.

After the session, Nash was full of praise for the players he got to share the pitch with, admitting they were trying their best to get him involved in the game.

“The guys were amazing today. They were giving me instructions and trying to find me and pass the ball to me. It was above and beyond what I expected,” he concluded.
