Rio Ferdinand says he has been impressed with Manchester United starlet Jesse Lingard during pre-season.
The 20-year-old made a name for himself on Manchester United's pre-season tour of Asia and Australia after finishing as top scorer with four goals.
Ferdinand believes Lingard has a bright future at Old Trafford and says he can envisage him securing a starting spot in the near future.
"He is a great little player. On the previous tour, he was one of our best players but it didn't work out for him last season," he said.
"But he couldn't have done any more to put himself in the shop window in terms of the manager."
Ferdinand also had some kind words for another Manchester United new-boy Wilfried Zaha.
"He's fitted in straight away," the former West Ham man said.
Ferdinand will take part in his testimonial against Sevilla at Old Trafford next week.
