Manchester United are ready to launch a €30million bid for Italian international midfielder Claudio Marchisio, according to reports.
Corriere dello Sport claims that Red Devils chief David Moyes is ready to put the pressure on Juventus in the transfer window, having missed out on Thiago Alcantara and struggled in their pursuit of Cesc Fabregas.
The paper also cites an anonymous source close to the manager when claiming that Manchester United want to bring the 27-year-old to Old Trafford as a possible alternative to Luka Modric.
Marchisio has been with the Bainconeri his entire career, making his first-team debut back in 2006. He enjoyed a loan stint at Empoli the following season, but has become a regular since returning to the Juventus Stadium.
Last season’s Serie ‘A’ champions have stated publically that they don’t want to lose the 38-cap international, but a big-money bid from Manchester United could prove difficult to reject, the report claims.
Moyes has been looking to add a marquee signing to the Premier League champions since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson, but has so far failed in his pursuit.
The arrival of Marchisio would be a major coup for Manchester United after a summer of disappointment thus far.
