Manchester City full-back Aleksandar Kolarov has played down speculation linking him with a move away from the Etihad Stadium by insisting he wants to stay at the club.

Kolarov has failed to hold down a starting berth since he joined Manchester City from Lazio back in 2010.

However Kolarov has declared he wants to stay and fight for a place in new manager Manuel Pellegrini's side.

"I'm well at City and I hope to convince Pellegrini of my qualities and to play as much as possible next season," Kolarov told Tuttosport.

"The interest of important and prestigious clubs like Juventus pleases me, but I won't decide alone about my future."

Despite committing his short-term future to Manchester City, Kolarov has admitted that a move back to Italy could be a possibility in the future.

"If something will happen, this will first be decided between two clubs," he added.

"I can say that I was fine in Italy and that I like Italian football."

Meanwhile, Kolarov managed to get himself on the scoresheet in Manchester City's impressive 5-3 win over AC Milan in the Audi Cup.

The Serbian international - who started ahead of fellow left-back Gael Clichy - will be hoping to secure a spot in Pellegrini's first competitive line-up against Newcastle on August 19.
