Andrea Pirlo misses penalty as Everton beat Juventus

Published 1 Comments

The rekindling of the Andrea Pirlo love affair - at least in England - began during Euro 2012, and was sealed by the midfielder's nonchalant Panenka penalty against the Three Lions in the quarter-final penalty shootout.

The Juventus star was hailed as the coolest footballer alive - this picture only served to confirm the belief.

After a penalty taken with such confidence, it's hard to imagine Pirlo ever coming close to missing one - let alone actually doing it.

But guess what, he did just that last night - and against English opposition too. Juventus's preseason friendly against Everton went to penalties, and the Italian international fluffed his spot-kick - skewing wide from 12 yards.

And to make matters worse, Toffees youngster John Stones stepped up and dispatched an almost perfect Panenka penalty that even Pirlo would have been proud of. Everton won the match 5-6 on penalties after it finished 1-1 after normal time.

Check out the two spot-kicks in the videos below - and thanks to for getting the clips up first…

And Stones' showing him how it's done...
