Having played with both formidable strikers during spells at Chelsea and Liverpool, Joe Cole has hinted that the West Ham striker Andy Carroll can be just as good as Didier Drogba.
Both Cole and Carroll had unproductive times at Liverpool before moving to Upton Park.
And whilst Cole rejoined his boyhood club this January, Carroll's permanent signing was prompted by his impressive loan spell at West Ham last season. He was reportedly signed for a club breaking record of £15 million.
Skillful Cole was a talisman alongside Drogba at Chelsea, and the former England international believes that the 24-year-old striker has the ability to match the Ivorian.
"I played with him at Liverpool and West Ham and the player that is at West Ham is full of confidence, energy and aggression, and everyone can see what a good player he is," he told reporters.
"He had a difficult time at Liverpool but the West Ham Andy Carroll is a real handful and a top player. He'll be looking at getting himself in the England squad now.
"He can be anything he wants to be. You can look at a Drogba, that's the level he can get to."
Carroll will begin life afresh with the Hammers, having ended his Liverpool hell and permanently moved to the Upton Park.
Meanwhile, Cole, 31, will also be hoping to have a prosperous career at his first club this season as he aims to salvage his fallen prestige.
