Bradford Bulls have completed the capture of 24-year-old forward Matty Blythe
Bradford Bulls have completed the signing of forward Matty Blythe from Warrington Wolves.
The 24-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the Yorkshire-based club, after impressing on loan at the club.
The deal will become permanent and come into effect at the end of the Super League season. Blythe made 14 Super League appearances, scoring seven tries for the Bradford Bulls.
The forward has admitted moving to Bradford is the best decision for him at this point in his career, also stressing the excellent team spirt within the Bradford Bulls squad.
"I just think it was the best option for me and my career. It's a good club and we've done well this year," he told BBC Radio Leeds. "The lads are amazing and I've enjoyed every moment that I've been here. The team spirit is brilliant.
"I've had a great time at Warrington and the fans, the coaching staff and the guys I've played alongside have all been great."
Blythe is enthusiastic about the future at Bradford Bulls – despite not being paid last month’s wages.
Blythe, who completed the deal last week before the club hit the financial issue over wages, told Telegraph & Argus: “As players we had questions that we needed answering, as you would if you don’t get paid.
“The club have answered those questions and we’re fine in terms of morale.
“After what happened here last year, the alarm bells started ringing that it could happen again, but everything’s fine.
“We’re laughing and joking and enjoying ourselves – and we have to because it’s a massive game this week at Wakefield.
Blythe has said it was hard to leave his hometown club Warrington Wolves, but is adamant the switch to the Bull's is the best option for his career,
“It’s my home-town club and Warrington will always be a part of me but I needed to make this permanent move for my career. I’m one hundred per cent happy I’ve done it.”
Bradford Bulls currently lie in 10th position in the Super League table, amassing a total of 18 points thus far in their campaign. The Bulls are some way of the top spot, which is occupied by the Huddersfield Giants who lead the Super League with 34 points.
