Tottenham and Arsenal transfer target Bernard was sent off on Wednesday after receiving a second yellow card for his goal celebration against Atletico Paranaense.
The Atletico Mineiro star put his side 1-0 up in the 80th minute with a fine strike.
And the Brazil international quickly whipped off his shirt to reveal a message on his vest - but the referee promptly dished out his second yellow card and sent him off.
And it turned out to be a costly celebration because Atletico Paranaense fought back with two goals inside the last four minutes from Everton and Ederson to steal an unlikely 2-1 win.
Bernard has been heavily linked with a move away from Mineiro. A £20m deal with Shakhtar Donetsk has reportedly been agreed, but nothing has been confirmed so far.
Arsenal and Tottenham were at one stage thought to be among the frontrunners to secure his signature, with scouts in attendance at the recent Copa Libertadores final.
But it looks like the Premier League duo could be set to miss out on the 20-year-old winger.
Anyway, check out his goal - and sending off - in the video below...
