New Roma signing Kevin Strootman was on the scoresheet for Roma in their 3-1 victory over the MLS All-Stars in Kansas last night.

Second half goals from Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Tallo helped complete the victory for the Serie A side, with Omar Gonzalez's late goal proving to be a scant consolation for the hosts.

It was only the third time the All-Stars have been beaten in 11 games by foreign opposition, and the match attracted over 21,000 fans - the largest crowd ever seen at the home of Sporting Kansas City.

Strootman, a £15million summer signing from PSV Eindhoven, opened the scoring in the fifth minute when being put through by Florenzi, before a tackle from Aurelien Collin deflected off his foot and inside the right-hand post past Raul Fernandez.

Florenzi doubled the lead just two minutes into the second half, after latching on to a left wing cross from Federico Balzaretti and finishing.

A third was set up by Michael Bradley on 67 minutes, playing back in his home country, as his through ball set Strootman away on a one-on-one with goalkeeper Nick Rimando, and he duly squared for Tallo to tap in.

La Galaxy's Gonzalez headed in from Camilo's free-kick to reduce the deficit in injury time, but it wasn't enough to prevent the visitors from securing a comfortable victory.

The next match on Roma's tour of the United States will be against Toronto on Wednesday.
