Tottenham line up £26m Bale replacement

Published 1 Comments

Tottenham are preparing for life without Gareth Bale - and have lined up AS Roma's Erik Lamela as a direct replacement for the Madrid-bound Welshman.

The double Footballer of the Year has been heavily linked with a switch to the Bernabeu this summer, with Madrid doing everything in their power to lure the ex-Southampton winger to the Spanish capital.

And, though Tottenham are playing hardball and are seemingly reluctant to lose their most prized asset, a world record bid of £100 million plus is likely to tempt Spurs into parting with their star man.

According to talkSPORT, Lamela has been lined up as Bale's replacement, and the north London outfit will move fast to bring the 21-year-old Argentine to White Hart Lane.

Since arriving from River Plate in 2011, Lamela has scored an impressive 19 Serie A goals in two seasons with Roma, and is likely to cost Tottenham upwards of £25 million, given that his current contract does not expire until 2016.
