Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club are working hard behind the scenes in order to try and sign some new players this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Frenchman also believes however, that his current squad is good enough to challenge for silverware.
Fans of Arsenal have been waiting all summer for some big-name signings after chief executive Ivan Gazidis promised them that Wenger would have around £70 million to spend on new players and strengthening the squad, but so far, the club are yet to spend a single penny.
The Gunners have released over 15 players this summer, including three first-team names, and have also sold goalkeeper Vito Mannone to Sunderland. Their only signing has been Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre on a free transfer.
Over the summer, Arsenal have been linked with numerous players, but no-one has officially signed for the Emirates-based club.
The likes of Gonzalo Higuain, who eventually joined Napoli, Stevan Jovetic, who eventually joined Manchester City, Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney, have all been linked with big-moves to north-London, but none have materialised.
Talking during an event held by Arsenal, Wenger admitted that they are working very hard in order to sign new players this summer, but he also revealed that he has faith in his current crop of players, highlighting in particular the younger stars.
"We are still working on improving our squad," the Frenchman told fans through an Emirates sponsored 'Google Hangout'.
"But we have a base of young players, players who started in the Premier League with us, like Wojciech Szczesny, Carl Jenkinson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
"That is why what we do is unique. Look at our competitors, who in the last 10 years has started for them in the Premier League and is still there now?
"I believe my squad have a special bond and that they are on their way upwards, they are not over the hill, they will get better. I am confident we will be stronger next season."
