Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he cannot wait to have a reunion with former-Gunner Emmanuel Eboue, as the Ivorian returns to the Emirates Stadium this weekend for the club's annual competition, the Emirates Cup.
Arsenal will this year host Napoli, Porto and Eboue's Galatasaray, as they look set to stage their seventh competition.
The Ivory Coast international spent six years at Arsenal after signing for them from KSK Beveren back in 2005.
During his time at Arsenal, he became a fan favourite at the club for his sensational personality and his humorous ways, but with humour and positives, came a bunch of negatives as well.
Eboue was once subbed on by Arsene Wenger and then subbed off about ten minutes later because of his poor showing and all the home fans turned on him and booed him off.
However, he made a positive impact on all the players he played with during his time with Arsenal and midfielder Jack Wilshere is one of them.
Talking to the official matchday programme, Wilshere admitted that Eboue was a great character to have around and was brilliant at keeping spirits high.
“He was a special character,” the midfielder told the Official Matchday Programme. “He was good around the dressing room. Even if he was upset that he wasn't playing, he kept everyone's spirits up and was a happy guy.
“He is missed and it will be good to see him around the place. A few of the fans will be happy to see him as well.”
Arsenal will play Eboue's Galatasaray on the Sunday afternoon.
