Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is confident his team can score plenty of goals next season if their pre-season scoring record is anything to go by.
Villa highlighted their goal-scoring ability with 10 goals in their previous two friendly matches, notching up a 5-0 win over Walsall and 5-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra.
Lambert, 43, has plenty to smile about going into their first game of the season.
And he said to the club's official website: “We play a passing game and we’re getting better and better. We definitely have goals in us, that’s for sure.”
The 43-year-old Scot has expressed his delight at seeing the goals coming from different sources.
“It’s important that you can spread the goals around the team, which we did,” he added.
Villa’s last pre-season win against Walsall witnessed five different goal scorers, with Fabian Delph, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Christian Benteke, Jack Grealish and Gary Gardener getting their name on the score sheet.
Last season, Villa managed just 47 Barclays Premier League goals with Belgium international Benteke scoring 23 of those.
The Scotsman is going into his second season as Villa boss and it is clear he is in confident mood: “We are getting better and better. There are a few weeks to go and it's all about that Arsenal game on the opening day of the season.”
