Everton are reportedly preparing to formalise their interest in Manchester United midfielder Anderson as Roberto Martinez looks to further reinforce his ranks before the close of the transfer window.

The Toffees were credited with interest in Anderson earlier this week and, according to SportsDirect News, are set to follow-up their initial enquiry for the £10 million-rated Brazil international.

Anderson faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford following the appointment of David Moyes, with the new Manchester United manager have outlined the acquisition of another central midfielder as a summer priority.

Manchester United have failed with two bids for Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas but are set to make a £35 million third offer, and the potential arrival of the Spaniard could force Anderson out of the club.

The cordial relations between Moyes and his former club could help broker a deal were Everton to make an approach for Anderson, whose career in Manchester appears to be coming to an end.

Anderson became one of the most expensive teenagers of all time when he signed for Manchester United from Porto for around £20 million, but has failed to live up to expectation during his time at the club.

The 25-year-old has played 167 times and scored nine goals during his six seasons with the Red Devils.
